Heather's Final Project
For my project I'm going to create my own art website. My art is, of course, something I am extremely passionate about and wish to share. This is a good opportunity to apply my HTML skills to make my own portfolio website featuring my work, something that will be very beneficial to me past this art class.

Ashlee’s Final Project
I am doing my project on the food deserts in Louisville, essentially places where there is no access to fresh, healthy, and affordable food. My sophomore year I learned a lot about this topic and I want to share that information. It’s something that as student who are fortunate to go to college may have taken for granted in our lives. At first I wasn’t sure if I wanted to create a page about the food deserts across the nation but then I thought it would be more effective to focus primarily on Louisville.

Shae's Final Project
For my final project I was planning on creating a page that promotes physical activity! This is something I care about because I love being active and I think that individuals can benefit from exercise physically, mentally, and emotionally. I have found that working out is a stress reliever but also gives an individual a boost of self-confidence! I was going to go about assembling my page a little bit more creatively than conventionally by using a couple of my own illustrations that I created for the project. I wanted to make the page interactive by including a couple of rollovers and gifs that make my drawings look like they are flexing, or working out whenever someone is hovering over them. If I had time I think I may include an image map of different parks that people could go and get some physical activity! I also thought it would be cool to provide a couple links to some different pages with different diets and workout plans to promote a healthy lifestyle.

Matt T's Final Project Idea
I want to create a page to show that Penguins are in need of saving!
Penguins are amazing animals and to show my interest in saving penguins that is why I will create a "Save the Penguins" page.
Will have a waving penguin, maybe some neighborhood friends such as Polar Bears and seals may make a guest appearance.. who knows? We shall see if I have time to add them in.
I want to inform people that Penguins are in danger and need our help.

I was thinking about either creating a one page website on the ways in which violence in film/TV affects viewers, or a more fun website on the proper ways in which an animal farm (my neighbors alpaca farm) is run. This issue here I would be addressing is related to animal rights and/or proper animal care. Which idea would be most effective and/or easier to create since I struggle with Dreamweaver html coding and am a bit crunched for time.

I was thinking I was going to create a site about over population of the world! I was planning on creating a world map with rollovers and gifs for each continent to create a tally of how much populations are rising in each continent.

So far I am thinking about creating a sort of environmental awareness site. I know that is broad so I'd appreciate suggestions on how to narrow it down. I want to work with an image map in some way, maybe an expansive landscape background where on hover facts and info on how to improve that specific environmental condition pop up, such as hovering over a pond shows details on water purification. I'm planning on finding a way to include a disjointed rollover at the top of the page also. Thanks!

Final Project
I was thinking about doing an educational website about how to conserve energy. There would be elements such as how to conserve water, electricity, and how to recycle. I want to make it a scrolling page where you can scroll down through the different ways to conserve energy.

Discuss your reaction to "The Carp and the Seagull" by Evan Boehm. This site uses WebGL and will need to be viewed in Chrome:

Why do you think the artist has created work that relies on the viewer in order to move the narrative forward? In what way is this same inclination reflected in his video installation, "Looking At a Horse"? http://www.peelyoureyes.com/laah

Among other possible topics, think about ideas related to collaboration vs. appropriation.
Which site has more in common with "My Boyfriend Came Back from the War" and which has more in common with "I Know Where Your Cat Lives"? Why?

Matt's Project 1 Idea
For project one I want to focus on the issue of the world with gas and powering motorized vehicles. One major problem we worry about is pollution and burning gas so my idea would be eliminating the use of gas in any motorized vehicle. Not only cutting out gasoline to help pollution I also want to create a vehicle that may still drive on land but is capable of flying in the air. Not only would this be cool to be able to fly in the air just after driving as a normal land vehicle, but it is also cool because the land car would be able to escape any natural disaster such as tsunamis, earthquakes, etc. These vehicles will be solar powered as well as air powered. while in the air the car will generate energy to power the vehicle when it is on land but while in the air the vehicle will be able to fly using the natural resource of actual air. Since these new vehicles will be mass produced there will be an organized way of flying like shown in the picture below to keep from accidents all the time. Along with being powered by air and the sun this vehicle will also have the option to maneuver under water driven by the resource of water. It only uses it and shoots it back out actually causing the water to always be circulating which will actually help algae build ups decrease. This vehicle will be beneficial to the future as well as this project.
Project One Ideas
I want to focus my project on genetic modification and even genetic engineering in food, animals, and possibly even humans. The main question I want to pose is if we will take genetic modification too far. My plan is to either make some extreme human-animal hybrids and dress them up as soldiers, or to show animals growing out of plants in a lab. This is to represent an extreme side of genetic modification and engineering.
Project 1 ideas
For my project i wanted to discuss the growing amount that technology is taking away from time spent in nature. I've always loved the use of hyperbole both for humor and to prove a point, so for my project I plan to photoshop together a forest background, and then put an animal on a couch either watching T.V. or on a laptop.
Project One Idea
I want to create a vision of the urban living environment of the future, a scene of crowded streets, with large windows so we may see the inhabitants. In the spirit of Fahrenheit 451, there will be large screens and everyone will be exceedingly interested in them. I want these screens to display news of the future: globalization, social reform, resource control, etc. The implications being a centered world government, an advancement and dependence on technology, but I also wants hints of environmental reform: rooftop gardens, rationed food. One of the biggest themes will be an idea of control or "stability", a dictatorship necessary for a large population and limited resources.
Here are some of my beginning reference images, all will be edited almost beyond recognition.
Here are some of my beginning reference images, all will be edited almost beyond recognition.
Project One
Trash world - as the human population grows so does our waste. Already, we are ruining thousands of acres of land with our garbage. Living environments are being destroyed and the damage may be irreversible. The movie Wall-E shows an extreme case of what could happen if we don't find a way to dispose of our waste better, and though extreme is not a completely unrealistic idea. This issue is something that has always bothered me, because it effects so many thing in the biosphere and it is completely man made.

Project #1 Idea
My idea for this project revolves around the topic of global warming, more specifically I want to discuss the lack of coverage on this issue in the media. News and social outlets have an effect of the public opinion on climate change and therefore if the media shows lack of concern the general public pushes the issue to the wayside. The scientific data collected has been significantly understated and is need of being pushed to the front of peoples minds.
Project 1
For my project, I'd like to focus on consumer tracking and the future of marketing. My emphasis will be on how advertisers are pushing consumerism for their own gains and whether they have the consumers best interests in mind. They don't.
